FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Below we answer the most common electrical questions.
If yours isn't listed, feel free to contact us.

When should an RCD (FI relay) be installed?

The RCD (residual-current device / FI relay) is one of the most vital tools for protection against electric shock: it disconnects the circuit upon detecting a residual current fault. Current technical standards mandate its installation for new electrical networks and renovations, but it can also be retrofitted into existing homes. If you are unsure whether your distribution panel has one, call us and we will check it on site.

What should I do if a circuit breaker trips?

First, unplug any recently connected or suspicious appliances, then try to reset the circuit breaker. If it trips again or you smell a burning odor, stop experimenting: turn off the main switch and call an electrician. Repeated tripping is usually caused by an overload, a short circuit, or a faulty appliance.

How long does troubleshooting take?

This depends on the nature of the fault. Troubleshooting begins with assessing the symptoms and taking measurements; only after that does it become clear how extensive a repair is required. On site, we will explain what we found and what work is needed before we begin. We can also make an initial assessment over the phone based on the symptoms you describe.
